(BH91-94 points) A moderately toasty nose displays prominent but not dominant oak influence that still allows the openly spicy nose of black cherry, raspberry and exotic tea aromas to be appreciated. There is a sophisticated and refined mouth feel to the middle weight plus flavors that brim with palate coating dry extract that concludes in a dusty, balanced and notably firm but not hard finish. This too should be approachable with only a few years of cellaring yet be capable of rewarding 12 to 15 years of bottle age.

Aromas of black- and redcurrant and spices initially reminded me of Cabernet. Savory, juicy and refined, conveying terrific intensity to its flavors of dark cherry and fresh blood. Dense and fine-grained without any excess weight; primary but not a bit hard. This broad, utterly seamless wine shows excellent lift and definition and finishes with suave, fine-grained tannins and building length.
