(BH91-94 points) The profusely wooded nose displays plenty of menthol attributes along with various red and dark berry fruit, herbal tea, earth and a pretty floral nuance. There is fine power and concentration to the large-scaled, intense and muscular flavors that deliver excellent length on the overtly robust and rustic finale that is presently very tannic yet not hard though there is ample youthful austerity present. This will clearly need plenty of time. 2030+

Medicinal cherry and oak aromas are energized by minerals and pungent blood orange. Very primary and sharply delineated, with bitter cherry and saline mineral flavors complemented by an exotic floral character. Juicy, tightly wound and serious but already conveying strong personality.

(92+) The 2013 Clos Vougeot from Maison Jadot is a young and properly reserved wine out of the blocks, but this will clearly be very fine in the fullness of time. The nose wafts from the glass in a complex blend of red and black cherries, venison, cocoa, woodsmoke, a refined base of soil and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and tightly-knit, with a fine core, lovely soil inflection, ripe tannins and a very long, tangy and promising finish. Very good potential here. (Drink between 2023-2060)

It feels just a little pinched at the moment. The palate is better with chalky tannins, crisp acidity and good depth, but it needs to show more flesh, more fruit toward the attenuated finish. I must admit that I was expecting more from this. - Neal Martin

This leads off with an enticing nose full of dried red cherry and blackberry aromas that are enhanced by elements of fennel seed, turned black earth and sweet cardamom. On the palate, there’s tension between the soft roundness of the fruit and the austere tannins. Spiced cranberry, mocha, ash, and turned earth are brought to mind. This is an exciting but youthful wine that will need time to soften but once it does, will be lovely. Drink 2020-2035.
