92+ The Folatières bottling from the Drouhin family has always been one of their consistently excellent wines, and the 2013 is another fine success. The wine offers up lovely shape and refinement on both the nose and palate, wafting from the glass in a mélange of apple, tangerine, white peach, chalky minerality, a touch of fresh almond, vanillin oak and a topnote of apple blossoms. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, crisp and complex, with fine mid-palate concentration, lovely focus, bright acids and a long, pure and zesty finish. Fine juice. This is the first wine to display any appreciable amount of wood though it is subtle and easily allows the aromas comprised by spiced pear essence and wafting floral scents to shine. There is a textured and notably rich mouth feel to the delicious and lightly mineral-inflected flavors that deliver fine length on the solidly complex finish. This is sufficiently rich that it would not be a crime to open a bottle young though I underscore that the '13 Folatières should be capable of rewarding 6 to 8 years of cellar time.
