Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2018

The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is elegant, balanced and bright. The pretty luminosity of the wine's appearance helps to underline this positive impression. The bouquet is nuanced and layered with dried fruit aromas that...

Wine Enthusiast, May 2018

This opens with intriguing aromas of smoke, grilled herb, pressed violet and a whiff of strawberry compote. The luminous, savory palate doles out crushed raspberry, juicy Marasca cherry, clove and licorice alongside...

Wine Spectator, June 2018

Camphor and eucalyptus aromas and flavors mingle with cherry, vanilla, earth and milk chocolate notes in this dense, beefy red. Muscular tannins line the finish. Stays fresh and long. Best from 2021 through 2033. 3,000...

La Gerla was born from the passion of its founder, Sergio Rossi, who fell in love with the “bitter and sweet territory” of the land, which he purchased from the Biondi Santi family in 1976. He completely restructured the property with respect paid to its original environment, and shortly afterwards in 1978, he created the La Gerla brand.

A small winery, in just a few short years it has become a great cru of the Tuscan region, surrounded by the Orcia and Ombrone Valleys. The property extends over a total of 11.5 hectares, complemented by modern cellars equipped with the latest technological advancements. The vineyards at La Gerla lie right on the Montalcino hill at 320 meters above sea level, just where the slope begins to soften.

Sergio Rossi passed away in July 2011, and the continuity of La Gerla fell to his wife Donatella Monforte. Bringing her managerial experience from the fashion world to the estate, today she continues her husband’s dream and passion.

Brunello La Gerla is known and valued for its special elegance and pleasant aromas. It is extremely aromatic, soft and velvety to taste. The wine is aged in bottle for at least eight months before release.
