The 2013 Brouilly Cuvee Vieilles Vignes, from the domaine-s 60-year-old vines, has a vibrant, joyful, almost playful bouquet that is simmering with vigor, as scents of red plum and cranberry bubble over. The palate is supremely well-balanced, lithe in the mouth, but becoming edgier as it nears its tensile finish, which lends it weightlessness. This is another gem from Lapalu and a bottle purchased back in the UK attested to its showing in Beaujolais. Drink now-2022. - Neal Martin
