(BH90-92 points) A cool and equally pure nose offers up notes of citrus peel, white flowers, red grapefruit and subtle wood nuances. There is excellent energy to the medium weight flavors that possess a seductive mouth feel, all wrapped in a moderately firm, balanced and solidly persistent finish. This is a bit finer than it usually is and should also reward up to a decade of bottle age.

92+ I can still recall back in the ‘80s and early ‘90s when the Clavoillon here was a bit chunky in personality and a bit of a weak link in the domaine’s lineup, but with the wholesale switch over to biodynamique viticulture, this wine has developed a sense of elegance that I never imagined possible. The 2013 is another absolutely beautiful wine in the making, delivering an utterly refined nose of apple, lemon, chalky minerality, fruit blossoms, a bit of orange zest and a discreet framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and racy in personality, with excellent mid-palate depth, beautiful focus and balance, bright acids and outstanding transparency on the long and nascently complex finish. A beautiful wine in the making.

The 2013 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon, which was bottled in June, has a well defined bouquet with flint and light smoky scents with just a hint of quince coming through with aeration. The palate is nicely poised with good weight on the entry, a touch of light honey and mandarin, poised if not persistent on the finish. I would afford this a couple of years in the cellar. - Neal Martin
