A spicy style, with hints of Bourbon, smoke and vanilla riding a wave of vivid acidity. Apple and lemon flavors establish themselves as this builds to a long, tangy finish. A mineral accent chimes in at the end. Best from 2018 through 2029. — B.S.

(BH90-92 points) A deft touch of wood sets off fresh, pure and naturally exotic aromas of tangerine peel, citrus, green apple and white flower aromas. Once again there is impressive richness to the luxuriant and palate coating medium weight flavors that exhibit a more pronounced stoniness on the lingering, complex and well-balanced finish where the oak telegraphed by the nose reappears. This is an atypical example but it’s still lovely. 2020+

(WA90-92 points) The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru les Genevrieres, has a more compelling bouquet, vis-a-vis the Charmes '13, with citrus peel, fresh mint and mineral scents all vying for attention. There is certainly good vigor here. The palate is well balanced with a fine citric thread - great tension and focus, with a gradual build to a lemongrass and shaved-ginger-infused finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. This is a very commendable Genevrieres that may deserve a higher score once in bottle. - Neal Martin
