I love the precision and purity of the 2013 Chaignots from Domaine Chevillon this year. This bottling is always the most forward of the premier crus in the cellar, and this year is no exception, but the wine’s tangy acids give it a transparency and precision right out of the blocks that is truly exciting. The very refined nose delivers a blend of cherries, plums, cocoa, gamebirds, a bit of charred wood, lovely soil tones and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure, with lovely, vibrant acidity, lovely soil inflection, a fine core of fruit and a long, ripely tannic and impeccably balanced finish. A beautiful vintage of Chaignots. (Drink between 2019-2050)
