(JG89-90+ points) The 2013 Gevrey V.V. was showing the best recovery of the three recently-racked wines and clearly will be a fine example of the vintage. The bouquet is deep and nicely black fruity, with a 1993-like personality in its aromatic constellation of black cherries, cassis, bitter chocolate, a bit of grilled meat, dark soil tones and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, tangy and very nicely transparent, with good focus and balance, a good core and fine length and grip on the suavely tannic finish. Good juice. (WA88-90 points) From 40- to 80-year-old vines, the 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has an attractive marine influence on the nose that displays moderate intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well-judged acidity and a harmonious if slightly simple finish. Effortless. - Neal Martin
