In 2013, Jean Hoefliger began a new chapter in his global wine career when he partnered with Rob McKay to create The Debate. Jean knew that with his experience and perspective paired together with Rob’s, they could craft wines that celebrate the art of conversation, the difference of viewpoints, and the enjoyment of sharing them.

Rob McKay has long been an advocate of the California wine industry, and the right to a point of view. In addition to his thirst and passion for all things wine, his experience as an investor, philanthropist and political donor positions him perfectly to participate in the debate.

These two friends bring their unique perspectives together to create thought provoking and delicious wines that extend beyond the sense of taste to the thrill of telling stories and the art of listening.

By selecting three different vineyards with three different expressions of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, the Debate seeks to point out the diversity of terroir that is shown in each of these wines.

The Debate defines the notion of terroir as the interaction of a climate, a soil and a plant in a unique location. Vines, like people, develop character from its surroundings and upbringing. Each of these wines will possess their own personality and reflect the different facets from its place in the world.

The Debate three-pack includes three very different viewpoints of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, from three of the most famous vineyards in the Napa Valley: Beckstoffer Missouri-Hopper, To Kalon, and Dr. Crane Vineyards.

Sourcing from three different vineyards using the same farmer and same winemaking techniques, these wines show the true diversity of terroir and the art of interpretation. Which wine is the best? Enjoy the Debate.
