This is stout, muscular pinot noir from two vineyards in the hills where the southwest margin of the Russian River Valley blurs into what can properly be called the far Sonoma Coast. Its dark, turfy black-plum flavor and tannic grip are energized by a cool bay laurel scent and amplified by some warmth from alcohol. Air brings dimension and lift to the powerful fruit. After a few years in bottle, this will be delicious with rare duck breast. (1,200 cases)
