Love the nose to this with ripe strawberries and peaches with orange-peel undertones. Full body, soft and velvety tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Delicious already. Why wait?

Wine Enthusiast, April 2015

(WE89-91 points) The palate of this attractive wine is ripe and soft. It has forward black currant fruits, very fresh acidity and just a touch of dusty dryness. It's going to be a delicious wine in the medium-term.

Chateau Teyssier, in the heart of the Saint Emilion appellation, dates back to the 1700’s. In 1994, it was acquired by Jonathan Maltus, an Englishman by way of South Africa, and a pioneer in the 'garagiste' revolution of the 1990's.

When Maltus acquired the property, the vineyard was just fourteen acres and the estate was in need of renovation. Today, Teyssier is nearly ten times its former size and has a state-of-the-art winery. A large part of the vineyards are situated amongst Cru Classe terroir on the hills hugging the village of Saint Emilion.

The Chateau produces eight Saint-Emilion wines, ranging from the estate wines Chateau Teyssier and Chateau Laforge, as well as limited-release single vineyard wines Le Dome, Le Carre, Les Asteries, and Vieux Chateau Mazerat. Maltus has also ventured into Napa Valley, with single-vineyard wines produced under the World's End label.

Chateau Teyssier is one of the largest selling Saint Emilion Grand Crus. The wine is made to high standards using the same equipment and methods that are used for the estate’s top-end single vineyard wines.

It is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc from a number of parcels based in the South West plain of the Saint Emilion appellation. This soil/terroir being mainly sand over, in certain areas, crasse de fer (iron deposits) helps make the wine approachable.
