91+ As Didier observed, “Vaillons is a solar terroir and always ripens very early.” In the fine 2014 vintage, this has given the wine a really flashy, albeit very pure, nose, that jumps from the glass in a wide open blaze of tangerine, sweet grapefruit, fresh lime, chalky , beeswax and a touch of oyster shell. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and really succulent on the attack, with a lovely core of fruit, excellent soil signature and a very long, focused and vibrant finish. This will wear its heart on its sleeve from the moment it is released, but it has the balance and acid chassis to also age quite gracefully. A lovely Vaillons. (Drink between 2015-2035)
