More Hermitage in style with its firm, structured feel on the palate, the 2014 Igp Côtes Catalanes Secret de Schistes sports a deep purple/plum color to go with classic Syrah notes of blackberries, bacon fat, black olives and crushed rocks. It shows more mid-palate depth and concentration than most 2014s, has sweet tannin and great finish. Drink it through 2024.

Another wine from this estate that reminds me of a Syrah from the steep slopes just outside of Hermitage, the 2014 IGP Cotes Catalanes Secret de Schistes reveals a terrific bouquet of ripe black fruits, olive tapenade and bacon fat.
