The 2014 Petits Vougeots was also one of the slower wines to finish up its malo this year in the Hudelot cellars and the wine still had just a bit of CO2 on the palate as a result. However, this was still quite easy to read its charming quality, as it offers up a fine bouquet of red plums, cherries, raw cocoa, chalky soil tones, violets and a gentle framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and sappy at the core, with lovely soil drive, fine-grained tannins and excellent focus and grip on the nascently complex and vibrant finish. The terroir of Petits Vougeots is a dead-ringer for Chambolle and this is especially apparent chez Hudelot with this really lovely 2014 version.
