Laurène, named after Véronique's daughter, is a barrel selection of the Dundee Hills Pinot Noir and both density and concentration are immediately apparent on the nose. A little air reveals heady iron oxide notes reminiscent of blood, tinged with a hint of tar. The palate is insistent and couples suppleness, fluidity, structure with ripe cherry fruit, maintaining that aromatic lift. Its elegance becomes fully apparent on the long, fresh finish.

A very pretty pinot with currant bush, minerals, underbrush, blackcurrants, dark cherries and bark. The palate is extremely polished with fine tannins, fresh acidity, lots of dark, blue fruit that remains balanced and lithe, and a fruity, minerally finish. Drink now or hold.

Vivid red. A sexy, highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red berries, cola and rose oil, and a smoky flourish builds in the glass. Fleshy, expansive black raspberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors show impressive depth as well as energy, picking up a hint of star anise with air. Finishes juicy, supple and very long, offering lingering spiciness and pliant, even tannins that fold effortlessly into the lush fruit. -- Josh Raynolds

(92+ points) Pale to medium ruby-purple, the 2014 Pinot Noir Laurene offers a very fragrant nose of exotic spices—anise, cardamom and fenugreek—over a core of pomegranate, rhubarb, Bing cherries, fertile loam and truffles. Medium-bodied with a taut, fine structure of fine tannins and refreshing acid, the fruit has plenty of earth and red berry layers that linger with great persistence.- LPB
