(92-94 points) The 2014 Morey St Denis 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes, obviously from the oldest vines courtesy of premier crus dating back to 1936, has a precise, mineral-driven bouquet that seems so crystalline. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth texture, vivacious red cherry and strawberry notes, very finessed and harmonious on the finish. You can tell this was cropped at just 20 to 25 hectoliters per hectare -- the concentration is here, ditto the tension. This is superb. - NM

(91-93) Firm reduction presently renders the nose unreadable. There is exceptionally good richness and mid-palate concentration to the intensely mineral-driven, powerful and focused middle weight plus flavors that culminate in a driving finish that is strikingly complex and persistent. This is terrific though be aware that plenty of patience will be required.

The old vine bottling of Morey Premier Cru is stellar in 2014 and shows plenty of Clos de la Roche-like qualities in its aromatic constellation of black cherries, dark berries, espresso, venison, black minerality and a topnote of mustard seed. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and shows off a superb core of sappy fruit, with excellent transparency, ripe tannins and a long, focused and utterly seamless finish. Gorgeous wine in the making.
