The 2014 les Amoureuses from the Château de Chambolle-Musigny is a very refined and still quite primary example of the vintage. The gorgeous nose gently wafts from the glass in a complex blend of red plums, black cherries, raw cocoa, plenty of blood orange, roses, mustard seed, just a whisper of vanillin oak and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and utterly seamless, with a sappy core of fruit, a gorgeous signature of soil and a very long, suavely tannic and perfectly balanced finish. All this stunning wine needs is a good home and some patience. (Drink between 2025-2065)

The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Amoureuses has a wonderful bouquet that builds on the promise it showed from barrel 12 months ago. It is unequivocally beautifully defined with that rose petal signature infusing the shimmering red cherry and cranberry fruit. There is tangible energy being emitted from the glass. The palate is very suave with outstanding mineralité, defined by its supple ripe red berry fruit. It has a lovely snappiness, and though it remains understated, there is superb structure. An exceptionally floral and wonderfully elegant nose presents notes of cool and airy high-toned red berry fruit along with plenty of spice and a hint of sandalwood. The medium-bodied flavors are at once silky yet powerful with really lovely underlying tension while delivering terrific length on the beautifully delineated, mineral-driven and harmonious finale. This is quite simply drop dead gorgeous.
