The 2014 Morgon Côte de Py Javernières, which comes from the east side of the vineyard on more sedimentary soils, was bottled in mid-December after 12 months in 5-year-old 228- and 350-liter barrels. It has a lively bouquet with kirsch, maraschino cherries, soy and orange sorbet - lively and outgoing for a Morgon. The palate is medium-bodied with silky, smooth tannin. The acidity is nicely judged with layers of blueberry and creme de cassis, seductive and almost lascivious like a 2015 on the finish. One of the more opulent 2014 Morgons by far. - Neal Martin
