This too is very firmly reduced. The racy, intense and more overtly mineral-driven medium weight flavors possess a taut muscularity along with a saline character that surfaces on the beautifully textured and lingering finale. This isn't as refined as the Pucelles but it delivers more minerality. In sum while these two wines are qualitative equals they offer two markedly different expressions.

(WA90-92 points) The 2014 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières has a crisp, floral bouquet that takes time to unwind, with hints of chalk dust littered over the bright green apple and fresh pear scents. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with a keen line of acidity, though it needs to develop a touch more material towards the finish just to fill the wine out a little and create more of a presence. - Neal Martin
