(WA93-95 points) The 2014 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, up to six barrels this year from five parcels that constitute 0.5-hectare, has a compelling bouquet with copious black cherries, red plum and shucked oyster shell aromas that are very well defined. The palate is smooth and caressing, the acidity perfectly judged, harmonious and poised, not far removed from say Denis Bachelet's own Charmes-Chambertin. Yes - it's that good. - Neal Martin

(BH91-93 points) A pretty, fresh and layered nose also possesses plenty of classic Gevrey aromas of various red berries, humus and animale nuances that are trimmed in discreet but not invisible wood. There is good vibrancy to the detailed and tautly muscular flavors that terminate in a long and mildly austere finish that is as persistent as the old vines Lavaut but actually not quite as complex, or at least not yet. 2026+
