Always the biggest, richest wine in the lineup, the 2014 Syrah Block B sports a deep purple color (although it’s not completely opaque) as well as serious notes of pen ink, graphite, charcoal, plums and crushed rock. There’s always a chalky minerality in this cuvée, and the 2014 has it in spades. Big, rich and unctuous, with good freshness and purity, and fine tannin, it's a huge, wine that says balanced, lively and incredibly drinkable. Bravo!

(97+ points) The 2014 Block B from the Paderewski vineyard was made with 40% whole clusters and aged 18 months in 61% new French oak barrels and puncheons. Harvested September 9-15 this vintage, it's a stunning Syrah with the potential to age another decade or more in the cellar. Deep ruby-purple, it explodes with pure wild blueberries, dark cherries, violet and accents of mint, pipe tobacco and dark spice. All that youthful fruit is supported by a very finely grained frame, and it finishes with expressive, floral character and great length. - Erin Brooks

Quite thick in the glass, this bottling by Jordan Fiorentini shows a compelling combo of black plum, black currant, purple flowers and crushed limestone on the nose. The palate is soft, and the chalky texture is sliced through by buoyant acidity, carrying flavors of black currant and crushed herbs that will last a long, long time. Drink 2019–2035.
