The 2014 Terra di Lavoro is a seamless and well-integrated wine (made with Aglianico and Piedirosso with the first vintage released in 1994) that always sets the bar high for Campania wines and the volcanic Roccamonfina subzone. This vintage is a little flatter than most, but this should come as no surprise given the challenges of the growing season. The pedigree of the winemaking is evident, nonetheless, with seamless integration and a wide array of dark fruit and toasted aromas that evoke the rugged personality of this unique Terra di Lavoro, or "land of labor." - Monica Larner

Aromas of cranberry, red licorice, and a pleasant herbal component on the nose. Tightly-wound and mouthwatering on the palate, built around a core of tense, dusty minerality and juicy, red berry fruit. There’s a subtle meatiness on the palate, too, adding intrinsic, non-fruit complexity, and suggesting the traditional, yet perfect, pairing with cured meats. Still tight and youthful at four years of age, yet just starting to show its maturity. Mouthwatering through and through with integrated, dusty tannins on the finish, this is begging for food, and will be delicious over the next 10 years.

Galardi "Terra di Lavoro" is a wine of great structure and prestige. The blend of Aglianico (80%) and Piedirosso (20%) is aged in new oak barrels for twelve months. Since 1994, attention of experts and the public steadily grown. Galardi is a family-owned estate formed by four cousins in 1991. The territory covers a volcanic soil of great potential sloping down to the sea. With the family’s commitment to the transformation of the vineyard and cellar practices, the estate produced its first fruit with the harvest of 1993. The result is a wine that, despite its youth, was already showing on its debut all the expressive potential of a great wine. 1994 marks the definitive birth of “Terra di Lavoro".
