91+ In contrast to the just bottled Beauroy, the 2014 Montmains was still in cuve and showing very nicely. The bouquet is bright and complex, wafting from the glass in a blend of green apple, a touch of fresh pineapple, chalky minerality, lemon zest and white flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and racy in personality, with a fine core, excellent mineral drive and a very long, racy and beautifully focused finish. Fine juice. The 2014 Chablis 1Er Cru Montmains was impressive from vat last year. Now in bottle, it delivers an attractive brine-tinged bouquet with fine mineralité tucked in underneath. The palate is well balanced with a slightly grassiness on the entry, finely balanced with a crisp citrus peel and oyster shell finish. All it might lack is just a little persistence on the aftertaste, although that should develop with time in bottle. - Neal Martin
