Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, August 2019

As we know, this was not an easy vintage. But Fontodi has a strong track record when it comes to turning out excellent wines, especially in the cold and soggy vintages such as this. The 2014 Flaccianello della Pieve is...

Wine Enthusiast, March 2018

Balancing structure and finesse, this full-bodied red delivers aromas and flavors of black-skinned berry, licorice, exotic spice and raspberry compote. Tightly knit, fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity provide the...

Decanter, October 2018

2014 was a notoriously challenging vintage characterised by an atypically cool, rainy summer. Fortunately September dried up, leading to a harvest well into October. Manetti compares it to a child that needed constant...

Wine Spectator, October 2017

Well-marked by toasty, vanilla-scented oak, this red boasts a core of cherry, floral, tobacco and graphite flavors. Pure and intense, with fine harmony and an aftertaste that echoes fruit and a smoky, minerally element...

jamessuckling.com, August 2017

This is an excellent 2014 with beautiful linear fruit and silky, firm tannins. Full body, tight and bright. A lot of new wood showing now but should come around nicely. Drink in 2019.

Fontodi is a certified-organic estate in Tuscany that has belonged to the Manetti family since 1968. The property extends over 130 hectares, 70 planted with vines. The estate’s guiding principle is respect of nature and sustainability letting them produce wines that are better, purer, and a truer expression of the grape and the territory.

Flaccianello della Pieve is 100% Sangiovese from a selection of the best vineyards in the Colli Toscania Centrale IGT region. At the modern, gravity-fed winery, the juice ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts for at least 3 weeks. The wine ages in Troncais and Allier (French) oak barrels for 24 months.
