The Harmand family’s 2014 Clos Prieur is an excellent wine. As readers will recall, this is a combination of very old vines in the villages section of the vineyard and a portion in the premier cru part. The nose on the 2014 jumps from the glass in a classic blend of cassis, grilled meats, dark soil tones, espresso, a bit of cigar smoke and a touch of cedar in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very classy, with a fine core, suave tannins and impressive length and grip on the complex finish. Fine juice.
