jamessuckling.com, February 2017

So much lemon, pineapple and green-papaya aromas here. Stones and salt block, too. Full-bodied, dense and layered with a creamy and layered mouthfeel. Powerful and agile at the same time. Exceptional. Rivals the 100-point...

Wine Enthusiast, March 2015

(WE95-97 points) This is a gorgeous wine, so rich and generous. At the same time, it has a direct purity of fruitiness, with a tense structure and crisp apple and lemon notes that give a nervous edge to the wine. It will...

Wine Spectator, March 2017

An intriguing flash of mint gives way quickly to white peach, tangerine, dried pineapple and singed macadamia nut notes. Rich, but a bitter orange hint streaks through the finish, imparting terrific cut. Still youthfully...

The 2014 La Mission Haut Brion Blanc is a Sémillon dominated cuvee in 2014 and incorporates 28% Sauvignon Blanc, all brought up in barrel. It offers a rich, concentrated, medium to full-bodied style, as well as a...

Decanter, April 2015

Gorgeous and savoury. A complex array of citrus and stone fruits, with fresh lemon then lemon curd richness; the 72% Semillon (higher than normal) really shows. Beautiful minerality with savoury herbs lifting stone...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, April 2015

This wine begins with lemon, lime, a few stems of Easter lily and some wet, weathered limestone and that’s just the warm up. It’s the refreshing acidity and the finish of complex, green apple that really sets this wine...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2017

The 2014 La Mission Haut Brion Blanc has a surprisingly strict bouquet that needed coaxing from the glass, eventually offering scents of Cornice pear, jasmine and honeysuckle. This is very subtle and clearly will need a...

Created by the noble Lestonnac family in the early years of the 16th century, the vineyard of Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion owes its name and its reputation to a missionary order commonly known as the Lazarites, who held the property from 1682 until the French Revolution.

The property is situated just opposite that of Chateau Haut-Brion, in the Pessac-Leognan appellation of the Northern Graves region. The vineyard covers an area of 29 hectares of which 26.60 hectares are planted with 42.7% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10.3% Cabernet Franc with an annual production of 6,000 to 7,000 cases. Over 3 hectares are devoted to white grape varieties (Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc).

In 1983, the Dillon family, already owners of Chateau Haut-Brion, added Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion to Domaine Clarence Dillon’s holdings. The new owners immediately set to work on an ambitious renovation program for the property, giving La Mission a new lease on life.

In the space of twenty-five years, the Dillon family, having fallen under the spell of this enchanting estate, successfully completed their impressive makeover of Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion so that for many years to come , it might continue to offer wine connoisseurs the world over a little glimpse of paradise in each bottle.

The 2014 La Mission Haut Brion Blanc is a wine of distinct character and exceptional quality, hailing from the world-renowned region of Bordeaux, France, more specifically the sub-region of Pessac Leognan. This Bordeaux Blanc is a product of the revered producer, La Mission Haut Brion, known for their commitment to creating wines that encapsulate the true essence of their origin.

The wine’s appearance is a captivating white, reflecting its varietal and type. It promises a journey for the senses even before the first sip. On the nose, it offers a tantalizingly complex array of aromas. Intriguing flashes of mint yield to the dominant notes of white peach, tangerine, dried pineapple, and singed macadamia nut. A subtle hint of bitter orange streaks through these, adding an unexpected twist that is both refreshing and engaging.

On the palate, the 2014 La Mission Haut Brion Blanc is a revelation. It is rich and generous, yet simultaneously retains a direct purity of fruitiness. Crisp apple and lemon notes are paired with a tense structure, lending a nervous edge to the wine that is mesmerizing. A cheeky pinch of lemongrass enlivens the senses on the entry, leading to a finish that is lightly honeyed, spicy, and tinged with a feral edge.

The 2014 La Mission Haut Brion Blanc is a wine of depth and energy, with its raw youthful vigour holding the promise of remarkable aging potential. It presents a powerful yet agile profile, perfectly balanced and layered, with integrated acidity and a great finish. This is a wine that is not only exceptional in the present, but also holds the promise of an even more glorious future. It is a wine to savor, to explore, and, ultimately, to remember.
