It is not uncommon for Pinots from the Santa Lucia Highlands to fix on ripeness and size as their principal traits, yet the best of the bunch, as is shown here, are wines of noteworthy structure as well. This one is full, firm and solid with a concentrated core
of vigorous, ripe cherry fruit that is underlain by an intriguing touch of mildly minerally soils, and, if gutsy, impressively filled stuff, it is also a bit rough at the margins. Two or three years seem the minimum wait, and we have no doubt at all that it will continue to grow for more.
