Elegant, complex and nuanced, with medium to full-bodied richness, a core of sweet fruit, ripe tannin and a killer finish, drink this sensational Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon anytime over the coming 10-15+ years. - Jeb Dunnuck

Rather claret-like aromas of plum, cassis and graphite. Sweet, plush, utterly seamless wine with terrific generosity to its concentrated flavors of currant, spices, shiso and graphite; a subtle floral element contributes lift. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and a suggestion of cilantro. Upchurch notes that his vineyard is planted at roughly the same elevation as Ciel du Cheval but on another plateau. Incidentally, the pH here is a reasonable 3.67.

The palate displays a sense of elegance and nuance, showing pleasing subtleties. Give it some time in the cellar to for the wood to integrate and the fruit to blossom. Best after 2023. SEAN P.
