From 55-year-old vines on red slate and quartzite soils in a very steep part of the cru, Fröhlich's 2014 Frühlingsplätzchen Riesling trocken GG displays a very clear, spicy, flinty, subtly salty bouquet of great precision and elegance. The wine is intense and juicy on the palate, but also mineral, piquant and salty, and most of all highly elegant, round and already accessible. This is so gentle but also so complex and juicy--a lovely Riesling. - Stephan Reinhardt
