(WA91-92 points) From the warmest and lowest cru of the estate, which also have the deepest soils, the 2014 Aulerde GG shows a clear, well concentrated, aromatic and spicy fruit flavor. Very elegant and intense, fruit-driven and with an aromatic length, this silky textured wine reveals a very nice purity and persistent finish. The wine is very dry but that's exactly what makes the Aulerde an interesting wine, since it can easily be too intense, rich and less precise. After 2013, this is another excellent Aulerde. - Stephan Reinhardt

While there’s plenty of peachy, primary perfume, crushed slate and stone form the backbone of this deeply mineral Riesling. Dry in style, it’s plush, creamy palate is balanced by a bitter edge of lime pith and savory pollen notes. It’s a complex wine that should meld and intensify further over the next five years. — A.I.

At 13.3% the highest in alcohol of Wittmann’s 2014s, this nevertheless evinces no heat, and its strong piquancy of rind and pit never turns to outright bitterness. A juicy core of grapefruit and apple inhabits the glossy, expansive, palpably dense palate and extends into a gripping finish whose phenolic intensity is impressive and invigorating, if also downright severe. -- David Schildknecht

Powerfully savory, with concentrated flavors of thyme, lemongrass and green apple, showing accents of anise and curry. The racy finish offers salt, dried mint and white pepper notes. Drink now through 2020. 575 cases made.–KM
