(91-93) An attractively layered nose combines notes of red currant, plum, violet, lilac, earth and a lovely spice hint. The mouth feel of the medium weight flavors is finer as the supporting tannins are also very fine, all wrapped in a well-balanced and sneaky long finale. This beauty is worth considering as it's a Beaune of finesse.

Aromas of raspberry coulis and clove convey a distinctly candied quality. Then dense, sweet and plush, offering aromatic if slightly warm flavors of jammy dark fruits and spices. Perhaps a bit more serious than the Beaune du Château and showing a touch more medicinal reserve but this is still uncommonly sweet and soft, albeit with plenty of ripe supporting tannins. A wine of pleasure.
