Multi-facetted nose of fresh citrus, stone fruits and some candied pineapple. Rich and succulent but with lively acidity and a long, seriously complex finish. Better from 2020 and has a couple of decades of ageing in the pipeline.

The 2015 de Malle has a perfumed bouquet with clear honey, acacia and orange blossom aromas that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is well balanced with clean, pure honeyed fruit laced with ginger and orange rind, demonstrating impressive delineation and vigor toward the persistent finish. This estate has fashioned a seriously good Sauternes, and while my sample set is small, 2015 looks to be an incredible vintage for these dessert wines. The 2015 Château de Malle offers relatively clean, pure notes of caramelized orange rind, honey, and white flowers, and packs serious amounts of sugar and sweetness on the palate. Staying nicely balanced, fresh, and incredibly drinkable, it’s already hard to resist yet will keep for 15 years or more.
