This is a more layered and juicy wine with a soft and round tannin texture. Walnuts and chocolate. Full-bodied, gentle and welcoming to taste. Chocolate and coffee undertones. Subtle and lightly decadent. Better than I remember. Drink or hold.

From a hot vintage, the 2015 Clos L'Eglise nevertheless has awesome elegance and purity as well as fabulous notes of tobacco, dried flowers, cedary spice, black cherries and mulberries. Showing plenty of richness and depth on the palate, it's full-bodied, balanced, has ripe, polished tannins, and a great, great finish. It's a beautiful wine I'd be happy to have in the cellar. It's going to hit maturity in another 4-5 years and cruise for 10-15 years in cool cellars.

The 2015 Clos L'Eglise is deep garnet-purple in color. A little closed at this stage, it soon offers up scents of Morello cherries, black raspberries, and preserved plums, plus hints of violets and oolong tea. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is chock-full of ripe, youthful fruits, supported by firm, grainy tannins and lovely freshness, finishing with a skip in its step.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Clos l'Eglise has a very earthy nose of black soil, truffles and mossy bark over a core of kirsch, blackberry preserves and dried mulberries with wafts of rose hips and oolong tea. Full-bodied, richly fruited and packed with savory layers, it has a firm frame of grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

The 2015 Clos l’Eglise needs encouragement on the nose. Initially surprisingly taciturn, it reveals well-defined blackberry, raspberry, leather and truffle scents. The palate is silky smooth with fine delineation, quite poised with dark chocolate and espresso complementing the lush red fruit. There is gentle grip towards the finish that gains length, though never achieves the heights of the following vintage. Still, this is going to give a lot of pleasure over the next 10-15 years. A polished, rounded style, with a friendly licorice and singed vanilla frame around a core of warm cherry and plum compote flavors. Gains some juicy energy through the finish, with the fruit showing ample persistence. Best from 2021 through 2032. 1,250 cases made. — JM
