Plush, rich and firm, this is a very complete wine. It's quite clearly the best wine to date in this series, demonstrating volume and drinkability, with juicy, precise but powerful black fruits and liquorice notes. It's just on a different level, and is clearly going to go the distance. There's an austerity to the wine, but it is not off putting or forbidding. (91 - 93 points) The 2015 Dauzac is a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot, the highest percentage of the former in recent years, and matured in 60% new oak barrels. It has a tightly wound but precise bouquet with scents of blackberry cassis and a hint of violet - very polished and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, pure black fruit laced with graphite and spice, gently building in the mouth, finishing with a precise and quite sustained, Pauillac-inspired grace. This is an excellent wine from the estate that will give 20-25 years of drinking pleasure. - NM

The blackberry and fig fruit has a gently mulled edge, with anise, wood spice and black tea notes. Light alder and mesquite details stitch up the finish, which is velvety in feel overall but has latent grip. Best from 2020 through 2035. — J.M.
