Complex aromas of red and dark berry liqueur, licorice and pungent flowers are enlivened by a spicy topnote. Shows excellent clarity and powerful thrust to the juicy, nicely concentrated blackberry and violet pastille flavors, and a peppery nuance adds spicy back-end cut. Closes sappy, energetic and very long, with fine-grained tannins sneaking in late. -Josh Raynolds collapse

It shows the house style with its pure, concentrated, focused character. Blackcurrants, cassis, toasted spice and graphite all flow to a medium to full-bodied, beautifully layered and pure 2015 that needs 2-3 years of bottle age, and will keep for a decade or more. collapse

This wine is perhaps the most charming of the three, revealing attractive notes of dried herbs and spices on the nose, along with red berries and black cherries. It's medium-bodied and savory, marked by flavors of black olives and espresso, then it lightens again on the richly textured finish. Drink it over the next decade or so. -Joe Czerwinski collapse

Winery

Delas Freres

Founded in 1835 by Charles Audibert and Phillipe Delas, the celebrated Delas Freres winery grows 30 hectares of vines comprising 10 hectares in Hermitage (including the Domaines des Tourettes estate), 2 hectares in Saint-Joseph, and 18 hectares in Crozes-Hermitage.

In addition to the grapes produced by Delas' own wine growing team, Delas' close relationships with like-minded owner-winegrowers ensure that the company is able to source grapes grown on individual parcels, which reflect their own unique terroir.

Exclusively a family-owned operation for over a century, Delas Freres joined forces with Champagne Deutz in 1977. In 1993, Deutz and Delas Freres were approached by the Rouzaud family, majority shareholder in the Roederer Group. They joined the Roederer Group under whose umbrella Delas' philosophy continues to flourish.
