The 2015 Clos de la Barre is also excellent, with a bit more mineral complexity and backend length and the very good Meursault AC this year. The wine delivers a superb aromatic constellation of pear, apple, a touch of fresh coconut, hazelnuts, chalky minerality and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, crisp and solid at the core, with lovely acids, fine focus and grip and a long, complex and vibrant finish. Toute en finesse. (Drink between 2016-2035)

The 2015 Meursault Clos de la Barre has a simple nose that gains intensity with aeration, offering light pithy pear and peach skin scents and just a touch of Vervain tea. The palate is cohesive, and the oak is nicely assimilated with a fine bead of acidity. This is turning into an elegant Clos de la Barre, and given that it is a mere Village Cru, there is commendable tension on the finish, perhaps having evolved a touch more mineralité than the previous bottle that I tasted. (89-91) Here the nose is slightly riper still yet manages to remain agreeably fresh with its layered nose of essence of pear and variety of floral scents. The rich, opulent and very rounded medium-bodied flavors brim with dry extract that buffers the moderately firm acid spine supporting the solidly persistent finish that also exhibits a hint of bitter citrus.

The Clos de la Barre is typically a notable step up from the normal Meursault, and that is very much the case again this year. Notes of confit lemon, apple and tart mirabelle plum lead into a palate with more concentration, cut and tension at the core than its village sibling. Drinking Window 2020 - 2035
