On the plus side there is equally good richness and power to the big-bodied flavors though the supporting acidity is slightly firmer plus the mouth feel of the impressively persistent finish is a bit finer. This is not exactly a classically style Porusots but it is still very clearly built-to-age and unlike most of the preceding wines, this big boy is going to need at least a few years of cellaring first.

A cool bouquet of ripe citrus, pear, iodine and hazelnuts is followed by a deep, full-bodied palate with great tension and mineral drive on the palate, even in this warm year. A little bit of sulphur reduction, and the wine shows at first a touch hollow with a dry finish, though it does fill out rather more on retasting. The wood still seems not quite integrated at this stage. DIAM 30.

On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a satiny attack, chewy extract and tangy balancing acids. It's a definite success. - William Kelley
