Tasted blind, Magnien's 2015 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru showed very well indeed, unfurling in the glass with a rich, spicy bouquet of cherries, incense, citrus rind, rich soil and dried flowers, framed by some savory notes of grilled meat and espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and lavish, with velvety structuring tannins, a deep core of fruit and juicy balancing acids, concluding with a long and sapid finish. This performed superbly against its peers in this tasting and is well worth seeking out. - William Kelley
