Decanter, September 2019

That sexy, smoky, exuberant feeling of La Croix and Lalande-Borie in 2015 is found here too, but with everything turned up a notch - or rather tuned up a notch, giving finesse and precision to the texture and shape. Pure...

The complex array of aromatics offers cigar wrapper, wet earth, cedar wood, forest floor and dark red fruits. Full bodied, rich and concentrated, with sensuous, plush textures, density and complexity. The finish holds on...

Aromas of oyster shell, iron and currants. Hints of iodine. Full-bodied, very tight and focused. Love the finish of sandalwood, cinnamon, violets and lavender. Wonderful tannin texture. Linear and driven. Drink in 2022.

Showy, with layers of warmed fig, roasted mesquite, black tea, incense and Turkish coffee notes, followed by waves of lush cassis, blackberry and raspberry confiture flavors. This has a graphite grounding rod, a tarry...

janeanson.com, April 2023

A ripe, generous vintage even in the heart of the reined-in, finessed appellation of St Julien, and this majors on blackberry, blueberry and damson fruit, shot through with creamy smoked caramel, warming spiced liqourice...

jebdunnuck.com, October 2023

The 2015 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is up-front, ripe, and incredibly sexy, yet it holds onto a terrific sense of balance and elegance. Crème de cassis, minty herbs, tobacco, and violet notes all define the aromatics, and...

The Wine Independent, September 2023

The 2015 Ducru-Beaucaillou, 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, is deep garnet in color with a touch of brick. Sauteed herbs, redcurrant jelly, and baked blackcurrant spring from the nose with underlying hints of wet...

Vinous, July 2022

The 2015 Ducru-Beaucaillou is a vintage that requires more time to settle and decide what it wants to be. The nose needs just a little more cohesion and focus, quite upfront and overtly floral, perhaps more than it needs...

Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou is named after the beautiful large stones that characterize its unique Saint-Julien terroir. Unusual for Bordeaux, it is one of the only castles to be built directly above the barrel cellars and one of the few estates producing a ‘Grand Cru Classe’ still inhabited by its owners. The Borie family has owned this estate and has lived here for over sixty years, in the sumptuous aromas of their wine.

Rated a second growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, Ducru sits on an exceptional site with incomparable views over the Gironde estuary. Its 75-hectare vineyard is planted 70% to Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% to Merlot with an average vine age of 35 years.

Today, the estate is managed by the company Jean Eugene Borie SA, which is owned by Mrs. Borie, her daughter Sabine Coiffe and her son Bruno-Eugene.

Ducru-Beaucaillou is a fine, elegant, and delicious wine with a long finish - in short, an archetypal Saint-Julien. The grapes are hand-picked, and the sorting process takes place on mobile tables in the vineyard to keep the healthy grapes separate from substandard ones. Fermentation is by traditional techniques and only the best fruit is used to produce the wine.

Introducing the 2015 Ducru Beaucaillou, a Bordeaux Blend that hails from the prestigious St Julien region in Bordeaux, France. This wine is a true gem, known for its elegance, complexity, and age-worthiness. With its deep garnet-purple color, it immediately captures your attention and hints at the depth and richness within.

On the nose, the 2015 Ducru-Beaucaillou enchants with an array of aromas that dance harmoniously. Baked black plums, crème de cassis, and blueberry compote take center stage, accompanied by enticing notes of cinnamon stick, black tea, and candied violets. The bouquet is further enhanced by a touch of chocolate-covered cherries, adding a luscious element to the aromatic symphony.

As you take your first sip, the palate is greeted by a wave of black fruit preserves and spicy accents. This wine is medium to full-bodied, offering a luxurious mouthfeel that is both velvety and firm. The tannins are beautifully integrated, providing a structured framework that promises excellent aging potential. The finish is long and perfumed, leaving a lasting impression that lingers on the senses.

Renowned wine critic Lisa Perrotti-Brown of Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awards the 2015 Ducru Beaucaillou a remarkable score of 97 points. She describes it as "fantastically delicious" and recommends giving it another year to fully develop, although it is already showing great promise. Similarly, Jeff Leve of TheWineCellarInsider.com awards it an impressive 98 points, praising its complexity, richness, and sensuous textures.

Other esteemed critics such as James Suckling, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, Jeb Dunnuck, Decanter, Vinous, and Jane Anson have all sung praises for this exceptional vintage. With scores ranging from 94 to 98 points, their tasting notes highlight the wine's remarkable qualities, including its concentration, opulence, finesse, and precision.

In conclusion, the 2015 Ducru Beaucaillou is a wine of exceptional quality and pedigree. It embodies the essence of Bordeaux, showcasing the classic characteristics of a St Julien wine. With its impressive structure, depth of flavor, and potential for aging, this wine is a true investment in pleasure and sophistication. Whether enjoyed now or cellared for years to come, the 2015 Ducru Beaucaillou is sure to leave a lasting impression on even the most discerning of palates.
