(93+) The smaller production, single vineyard 2015 Crozes-Hermitage Clos Les Cornirets comes all from granitic soils and was brought up in barrel. It's a more polished, concentrated wine and offers a deep, inky color as well as terrific notes of cassis, toasty oak, graphite and crushed violets. Rich, medium-bodied, structured and tannic, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will keep for a decade.

Full-bodied, rich and velvety, the 2015 Crozes Hermitage Clos les Cornirets Vieilles Vignes delivers ripe notes of plum and black olive on the nose and in the mouth. Despite spending a year in oak, one-third of which was new, it's a fruit-driven style but one that's packed with flavor, with a long, open-knit finish. Coming from old vines (more than 60 years of age) and granite-based soils, it could drink well into and perhaps beyond its 10th birthday.- JC
