Camphor, rose, brown spice and wild herb aromas mingle with an earthy whiff of new leather. Round and juicy, the savory palate doles out raspberry compote, ripe Morello cherry, star anise and cinnamon alongside polished tannins. This is a blend of three vineyard sites: Bricco Chiesa, Capalot (both in La Morra), and Fiasco (in Castiglione Falletto). This was a warm and dry summer by all accounts, but there is no evidence of jammy flavors here because the roots had access to good water reserves. The 2015 Barolo is a generous and accessible wine with lots of dark fruit and soft, succulent fruit flavors. Its signature leather and tobacco notes will likely develop with time. This "classico" Barolo is always a good match for red meat. - ML

This red is round and supple, boasting cherry, plum, licorice and eucalyptus flavors. The tannins are dense but refined, with ample fruit on the back end for balance and longevity. Best from 2022 through 2040. 2,500 cases made. — BS

This needs a good airing to break through the savory aromas and open up to reveal some tarry notes and warm stones. The palate has a strong serving of grippy tannins that carry a juicy black-cherry core. Needs time. Try from 2022.
