Wine Enthusiast, April 2018

Dense tannins and rich black fruits mark out this ripe wine. Its tannins are cushioned by the concentrated but generous black fruits that were organically grown. The wine has great purity as well as structure. Drink from...

A savory and fruity red with plum, chocolate-powder and berry character. Full body, lightly chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink now or hold.

jebdunnuck.com, November 2017

A year in, year out value, the 2015 La Vieille Cure might just be the best yet. This full-bodied, opulent, incredibly sexy 2015 gives up loads of black currants, tobacco, Asian spices, and earth-like aromas and flavors...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, May 2018

It might be a bit obvious, as nothing is hidden here, but who cares? This is just great today. It's open, lusciously textured, ripe, sweet and fleshy, the tannins and silky, the finish carries through. You can pop a cork...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2018

92+ Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 La Vieille Cure has some cedary notes to begin, giving way to scents of red and black currants, blackberries and forest floor plus hints of truffles and iron ore. Full-bodied...

This has a juicy core of dark currant, plum and bitter cherry fruit lined with streaks of charcoal and singed iron. A tobacco leaf note wafts through the finish, which has persistent but integrated toast. Solid grip. Best...

Decanter,

Rich, round and full flavoured with spice and dark fruit notes. A lovely mid-palate; tannins well rounded. Seductive wine that will be accessible early.

Chateau La Vieille Cure is in Fronsac, an AOC on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Wine growing at the chateau dates back to the 17th century. The vines are situated on plateaus and slopes that soak up the sun for generous ripening, with soils predominantly limestone with some chalk and clay.

The property was purchased in 1986 by two American friends and Bordeaux lovers. They replanted part of the vineyard—without touching the very old (over 75 years) vines—and constructed a new winery, equipped with the latest equipment.

Chateau la Vieille Cure holds 74% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. This mix, coupled with the sunny vineyard facing, makes the wines accessible at a young age. While some vintages benefit from waiting 10 or more years, most are best appreciated between 4 and 6 years.
