jamessuckling.com, February 2018

This is tight and bright and shows so much energy and panache. Such a beautiful Margaux white with the stone, cooked-pear and lemon character. Full and racy with such focus and brightness. Love it already but will improve...

jebdunnuck.com, November 2017

The 2015 Pavillon Blanc is another terrific Bordeaux Blanc from this great vintage. Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc aged in 25% new French oak (which is slightly less than normal), it boasts classic notes of caramelized...

(JL94-94 points) Floral notes, honeydew, citrus peel, orange marmalade, green apple and lemon wax on the nose. The wine is rich, full bodied, silky and long, with freshness, vibrant energy and a refreshing blast of lemon...

Wine Spectator, March 2018

This is very, very pure, with a beautiful beam of bright yellow apple, fennel and green melon flavors gilded by light acacia, chamomile, jasmine and verbena echoes. Long, rapier finish. Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through...

(18+/20) Minty, fragrant, lemon zest, ginger, vanilla – beautiful intensity and fragrance. Exquisite oak integration on the palate with pristine lemon fruit definition and creamy, dairy notes integrating beautifully...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2018

93+ Coming from vines that are now over 40 years old, representing only one-third of the total production and, as always, produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2015 Pavillon Blanc du Chateau Margaux was matured for...

Wine Enthusiast, April 2018

Ripe and creamy, this white wine from the Margaux vineyards is full of apple, grapefruit and tangy orange fruit. It also has a good structure with its touch of toast and spice. The wine is clean, clear, very pure and with...

Decanter,

Superb 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Lovely white flowers nose then lively and fresh on the palate, showing beautifully sappy, ripe flavours and a long, lifted finish.

Neal Martin's Wine Journal, March 2018

The 2015 Pavillon Blanc du Chateau Margaux has a perfumed bouquet with lemon curd, almond paste and light white flower scents that gently unfold in the glass. It does not quite possess the definition and tautness of the...

Chateau Margaux is a famous wine estate in the Medoc region, which along with Lafite, Latour and Haut Brion, was rated a First Growth in the original 1855 Bordeaux Classification. It covers 262 hectares, of which 82 hectares are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, and 12 hectares to Sauvignon Blanc.

In the 12th century, the property was called “La Mothe de Margaux” (the Margaux mound) and by the 16th century, wine was being produced at the estate. In 1705, the London Gazette advertised the first auction of 230 barrels of “Margose” and the 1771 vintage was the first “claret” to appear in a Christie’s catalogue. Indeed one of America’s Founding Fathers and vintner in his own right, Thomas Jefferson, visited this great estate in the late 18th century and declared it to be a vineyard of “first quality”. When Bertrand Douat, Marquis de la Colonilla, acquired the estate, he built the chateau that is often nicknamed the “Versailles of the Medoc”, a rare example of the neo-palladian style in France.

Andre Mentzelopoulos purchased the property in 1977, investing heavily in the estate and a program of improvements. Since his death in 1980, the property has been run by his daughter Corinne who continued his work in restoring the chateau to its former glory.
