jamessuckling.com, February 2018

This perhaps the best wine ever from here with a very powerful and rich body, yet it shows such polished and lively tannins. Chocolate, meat and spice undertones. Full and flavorful. Long finish. Drink in 2023.

janeanson.com, March 2023

The exuberance and depth of 2015 is found in abundance here, with red and black fruits, touches of fig and pomegranate, velvety and supple in texture. Firm but fine slate tannins, and lots of them, suggesting this will...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, July 2022

Coming along nicely, the wine is already softening, filling out, and adding layers of complexity. Rich, full-bodied, lush, silky, and fresh, the layers of deep black and red fruits feel great on your palate and in the...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2018

The 2015 Marquis d'Alesme Becker is composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. It has a deep garnet-purple color and a broody, earthy/meaty nose over a core of crushed black...

jebdunnuck.com, November 2017

93+ From an estate readers should watch going forward, the 2015 Château Marquis d'Alesme Becker from relatively new owner Marjolain De Coninck is impressive and offers lots of Cabernet Sauvignon blue fruits as well as...
VN 93

Vinous, July 2019

The 2015 Marquis d'Alesme Becker was opulent a year ago, but now it has evolved a more reserved, Pauillac-like bouquet of delineated black fruit laced with graphite and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black...

Wine Spectator, March 2018

This is broad and fleshy in feel, with smoldering tobacco, warm ganache and espresso notes that meld slowly into the core of steeped blackberry and black currant fruit. Shows a long tarry edge on the finish, with the...

Decanter, November 2017

A touch tight, this will flesh out further with time in bottle - give it five to eight years before opening. The gorgeous violet edges bode well for the integrity and potential of the fruit. It has depth to it, and great...

It's hard to believe that a stone's throw away from Chateau Margaux and Malescot, a 3rd growth chateau wasn’t really living up to its potential, but that was the narrative at Chateau Marquis d’Alesme ten years ago. Since 2006, the new team at this property, under the guidance of Michel Rolland, has flipped the narrative on its head, and the new era is bringing the goods: a triple 94pt Margaux and the property’s “best wine ever” (Suckling)! Now “on the right track” and “underpriced for a classified growth from Margaux” according to Robert Parker, this is a name to watch and the 2015 Chateau Marquis d’Alesme is a gorgeous and extroverted Margaux to stock up on!
