The 2015 Château Monbrison is a smokin’ good Margaux to seek out. With a deep ruby/purple color and terrific notes of caramelized cherries, currants, bay leaf, and toasty oak, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, fine, polished tannin, plenty of freshness, and a rich, yet undeniably elegant personality. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

(WA90-92 points) The 2015 Monbrison has a perfumed bouquet with generous red cherry, wild strawberry and rose petal scents that are neatly folded into the new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin, sorbet-fresh fruit here with a lively and vivacious, quite fleshy finish that belies that fine tannin underneath. What a delicious Margaux to enjoy over 15-20 years, one that should be approachable not long after bottling. - Neal Martin

This estate lies in Arsac, quite far from the vast gravel beds of the Margaux plateau, yet the wines have always been reliable and enjoyable. Black fruit on a rich, savoury nose. Broad, plump and full palate with considerable drive, that’s countered by ample spice and pep. Long, balanced finish.
