The Brunello is crafted from approximately 30-year-old vines while the older ones go into the Riserva (in the years one is made). This is a transparent and elegant wine that soars in 2015. Fragrant violet, lavender and mint blossom lead the way to a complex palate of succulent red berries, mineral and sous-bois. There is lovely focus, fluid and smooth with fine, powdery tannins that will lend effortless support for at least a decade. collapse

It's medium in body, with tension and structure that support flavors of pomegranate, red cherry, licorice and tobacco. It's still young thanks to taut, refined tannins and fresh acidity, but will blossom into a beauty. Drink 2023–2035. KERIN O’KEEFE collapse

Their newest release, the Padelletti 2015 Brunello di Montalcino, is perhaps the darkest and most robust expression I have seen from this estate that always prizes traditionally made wines. The wine sports a firm frame of dark fruit, and you really taste the richness and concentration associated with this growing season. Fruit comes from a four-hectare plot with Alberese limestone rock. Dark cherry and blackberry cede to potting soil and ethereal balsam herb. The wine takes a little while to open in the glass. Give it another 10 years of cellar aging. Some 9,000 bottles were released in January 2020.- ML collapse

Soft, cool-toned textures offset by saturating ripe red berry fruit, with saline minerals and vibrant acids carrying it across the senses with grace. The finish is long, leaving the palate drenched in mineral-laden red fruits and spice, while a twang of youthful tannin punctuates the experience. The 2015 is so easy to like already, yet has the structure to carry it over the medium term in the cellar. -- Eric Guido collapse
