Pale ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Santa Catalina Island Vineyards offers up a gorgeous perfume of red roses and lavender with an intense core of raspberries, Bing cherries and black pepper, plus wafts of cinnamon stick and damp soil. The Rusack family's quest to grow grapes on Catalina Island continues with great success in this bottling, which is light in the glass and shows loads of sagebrush, forest spice, red cherry and grenadine on the inviting nose. The palate is exuberant with energy and deeply layered with flavors of juniper, rosewater, hibiscus and strawberry.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Catalina Island Vineyards (brought up in 9% new French oak) is also rock solid. Soft, supple, sweetly fruited and charming, it has notes of framboise, vanilla bean, and caramelized cherries, no hard edges and light tannin. It is already ready to go. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years.
