The 2015 Frühlingsplätzchen Riesling GG opens with a fascinating, clear, flinty/smoky and spicy bouquet with great purity, finesse and mineral flavor intermixed with tropical, but extremely discreet, fruit aromas. There is great purity here. On the palate, this is a round, intense, very fruity, but also piquant and salty Riesling with richer fruit and intensity than the Kupfergrube or the Felsenberg. This is a powerful Riesling with a lot of grip and salty minerality. The finish is long, very juicy and aromatic. Tim Fröhlich reports that he has stretched the leaf wall of the vines, which is now more airy, and the grapes are more loose and less compact since 2011/2012. The resulting wine is concentrated, intense and even more complex than in former times. - Stephan Reinhardt
