The 2015 Halenberg GG is utterly brilliant. The bouquet is pure, youthfully complex and very, very precise in its blend of pink grapefruit, plenty of smokiness, a very complex base of slatey, flinty minerality, wild yeasts, petrol, a bit of the vintage’s mossiness and a touch of tangerine as a topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with bottomless depth, seamless personality and a very long, snappy and superbly focused finish. This has stunning potential. The 2015 Halenberg Riesling GG opens with a dark, smoky and very stony bouquet with some yeasty flavors. It is clear, piquant, very racy, pure and lean rather than rich. It is a picture book Schäfer-Fröhlich Riesling as well as a great Halenberg. The 2015 has so much finesse, elegance and purity but is also generous in its fruit combined with impressive length and clarity. This is a wine like glacier water and couldn't be more clear. - Stephan Reinhardt
